Jan-Christoph Tenzer serves as an Akademischer Oberrat at the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (IAAT) within the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Tübingen, and is affiliated with the Kepler Center for Astro and Particle Physics. His permanent role involves significant research, teaching, and administrative responsibilities since at least 2005.
His research spans high-energy astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and astronomical instrumentation, with specialized expertise in digital electronics for detectors and Monte-Carlo simulations. He has developed comprehensive courses including Experimental Astroparticle Physics (2012-2016) covering X-ray/gamma-ray astronomy and detector physics, and Observation Techniques in Astrophysics (since 2011) spanning radio to gravitational wave astronomy. His advanced practical courses focus on gamma-ray instrumentation and digital electronics for X-ray/gamma detectors since 2010.
Tenzer has supervised Bachelor, Master, Diplom, and PhD theses since 2008, mentored school students for career orientation since 2006, and contributed to teacher training through WiT. He manages projects and personnel while coordinating all experimental activities for the High-energy Astrophysics department, maintaining central operational oversight of the research group.
