معرفی
Dr. Jamie Moffatt is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Royal Holloway, University of London, affiliated with the Lab of Action & Body. His research focuses on understanding dissociation—distressing experiences of detachment from self or reality—through cognitive experiments involving bodily signals and multisensory integration. He explores how internal bodily sensations (e.g., heartbeats) and temporal pairing of sensory inputs (e.g., visual-touch stimuli) contribute to dissociative phenomena.
Education:
- PhD in Psychology (2018–2022), University of Sussex: Investigated mechanisms of dissociation using mixed-methods during the pandemic.
- MSci in Psychology & Psychological Research (2012–2016), University of Birmingham.
Research Interests
Dr. Moffatt’s work bridges cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and clinical practice. Key areas include:
- Dissociation etiology and experimental induction
- Multisensory integration deficits
- Body perception and interoception
- Anomalous experiences in mental health
Grants & Projects
Principal Investigator (PI) of the ESRC-funded project Using Virtual Reality to investigate the sense of self (2024–2025), collaborating with Mentor Mel Slater. This project employs VR to study self-perception through sensory manipulations.
Labs & Teams
Active in the Lab of Action & Body, focusing on experimental paradigms linking bodily signals to psychological states.
