Jamie McDonald

Jamie McDonald is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Health Science at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), within the College of Health & Human Services. She has served in academic roles for over 10 years, teaching health sciences courses at CSULB and the University of Phoenix. Her professional background includes 16 years with the American Academy of Pediatrics - Orange County Chapter, where she held roles as Health Educator, Program Director, and Executive Director, focusing on developing children’s health programs in areas like injury prevention, developmental screening, and addressing food insecurity.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, University of California, Santa Barbara
• Master’s degree in Public Health, California State University, Long Beach

Research & Professional Focus: McDonald specializes in community health initiatives, emphasizing collaborative work with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, nonprofits, and grassroots advocates. Her expertise spans early childhood development, health equity, and improving access to healthcare resources for underserved populations. She has extensive experience in program evaluation and policy advocacy related to child poverty and literacy.
