معرفی
Dr. Jamie Masters is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Classics at King's College London, part of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. He has been affiliated with KCL since 1993, initially part-time until 1999, while maintaining a full-time career as a composer and strategist in the music industry. His academic background includes a BA, MA, and PhD in Classics from the University of Cambridge (Magdalene College), followed by a Research Fellowship at Clare College (1989–1992).
His teaching focuses on Latin and Greek language at all levels, including prose composition, and specializes in Latin literature (e.g., Catullus, Vergil, Lucan) and Greek literature (e.g., Xenophon). His research interests center on ancient poetry and drama, particularly the intersection of civil war themes in Lucan’s Bellum Civile.
Masters actively engages in public humanities: he co-founded Thiasos, a theatre company specializing in ancient Greek drama (productions include Euripides’ Hippolytos [2016] and Aristophanes’ Ploutos [2020]), and volunteers at the National Portrait Gallery translating Latin inscriptions for exhibitions.
His publications include a monograph on Lucan’s work (1992) and a co-edited volume on Nero (1994). Though no formal student supervision is listed, his teaching and collaborative projects reflect a commitment to classical education and performance.
