Liddell's research prioritizes amplifying children's voices regarding educational experiences through visual methods and narrative techniques. Core interests include occupational justice, resilience frameworks, problem-based learning pedagogy, and clinical outcome measurement—evidenced by the development of a sensory processing difficulties adapted scale for the Therapy Outcome Measure (TOM). Recent scholarship examines apprenticeship models in health professions education and rural leisure participation constraints using Mass Observation data.
Publication trends reveal consistent focus on pediatric occupational therapy applications in educational settings, with methodological emphasis on qualitative inquiry and thematic analysis. Key thematic threads include assessment tool adaptation for neurodiverse populations, work-integrated learning in healthcare education, and occupational justice through inclusive environmental design.
Academic Leadership: Liddell chairs the Problem Based Learning Collaborative Learning Group, maintains a dedicated edublog for PBL resources, and supervises Master's level research projects. They contributed to establishing Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy apprenticeship schemes through partnerships with healthcare trusts and have served as a peer reviewer for academic journals including the International Journal of Practice-based Learning in Health and Social Care.
