Jamie Allan Brown

Jamie Allan Brown is a Research Fellow at the School of Art History, University of St Andrews, affiliated with the Institute for Museums, Heritage and Society. He serves as Treasurer for ICOFOM (International Committee for Museology) since 2022, leveraging his expertise in transnational museum collaborations and climate action initiatives.

His research centers on museums as catalysts for sustainability, with core interests in youth engagement, cultural heritage, and Europe-Latin America/Caribbean relations within the Sustainable Development Goals framework. Brown investigates how community crafts and island narratives foster climate resilience, particularly through transnational youth networks and museum-led ecological diplomacy.

Recent publications reveal a decisive shift toward museum-based climate action, emphasizing youth-driven transformation and reimagined island identities. His work bridges Caribbean, Latin American, and European contexts, analyzing digital heritage tools and policy frameworks for ecological sustainability.

His advisory focus centers on EU-LAC-MUSEUMS youth exchange programs, developing frameworks for heritage institutions in climate adaptation.

As co-organizer of the Transnational Island Museologies International Conference (2024) and EU-LAC heritage symposia, he cultivates global networks connecting St Andrews with Caribbean and Latin American institutions through the Institute for Museums, Heritage and Society.
