James Strong

Dr James Strong is a marine ecologist affiliated with the Ocean BioGeosciences department at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton. He specializes in marine habitat and species mapping, species distribution modelling, and integrating landscape ecology with habitat mapping methodologies.

• Research Interests: Landscape ecology, marine habitat restoration, algal aquaculture, climate change impacts on marine ecosystems, and environmental monitoring. His work focuses on reducing uncertainty in habitat mapping and ecological modelling frameworks.
• Technical Expertise: Trained in using Ecopath with Ecosim for mass-balance ecological investigations.
• Leadership: Chairperson of the ICES Working Group on Habitat Mapping, contributing to international marine science standards.
