James Schofield is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department at Bentley University. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Plymouth State University, an M.A. in Consciousness Studies from Goddard College, and a Ph.D. from the University of Canterbury. His interdisciplinary research bridges philosophy and cognitive science.
Professor Schofield's scholarly work centers on developing a comprehensive metaphysical framework called 'dialectical holism,' which integrates:
- 4E cognitive science (embodied, embedded, enacted, extended cognition)
- David Bohm's interpretations of quantum physics
- Virtue ethics and collective intelligence paradigms
His current research extends this foundation to examine the co-evolution of human cognition, moral frameworks, and social structures. Teaching interests span philosophy of science, ethics, religion, pragmatism, and existentialism. No information regarding publications beyond his book, student advising, research grants, or laboratory affiliations is currently available.
