James Perry is an Associate Professor of Professional Studies in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He teaches courses in criminal justice, criminal law, juvenile justice, corrections, and social problems, emphasizing student engagement and critical thinking in his pedagogy.
His research focuses on the Nebraska correctional system, including recidivism predictors and the application of European-style day fines in the United States. He has conducted multiple site visits to state prisons and juvenile facilities and led an on-going book club with inmates at the Lancaster Correctional Facility.
