Justice James O’Reilly is a Contract Faculty member at the School of Public Policy & Administration, York University. He holds a BA(Hons) from the University of Western Ontario, an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, and an LLM from the University of Ottawa. His legal career spans roles including Consultant to the Law Reform Commission of Canada, Legal Advisor in the Department of Justice, Executive Legal Officer at the Supreme Court of Canada, and Counsel to the Collusion Investigation in London, England. He was appointed to the Federal Court in 2002 and has taught law at institutions such as Carleton University and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Justice O’Reilly is a Fellow of McLaughlin College, York University, reflecting his scholarly contributions. His professional trajectory emphasizes legal policy, law reform, and judicial practice, with extensive experience in both academia and public service.
