James L Furrow, PhD, LMFT, serves as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Couples and Family Therapy Program within the College of Arts and Sciences at Seattle University's First Hill campus. He holds dual professional designations as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and AAMFT Clinical Fellow.
Dr. Furrow is a pioneering authority in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and families, with research specializing in couple therapy interventions and positive youth development frameworks. His scholarly contributions include authoring and editing five seminal EFT texts, notably Emotionally Focused Family Therapy: Restoring Connection and Promoting Resilience and Becoming an Emotionally Focused Therapist: The Workbook, which are foundational resources in clinical training programs worldwide.
He co-founded the Los Angeles Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, serving as an ICEEFT-certified therapist, supervisor, and trainer.
