James Hays is an Associate Professor in the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on computer vision, robotics, and machine learning, with contributions to 3D object detection, geotagged imagery analysis, and datasets like Argoverse. He previously held the Manning Assistant Professorship at Brown University, completed a postdoc at MIT with Antonio Torralba, and earned his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University under Alexei Efros. Awards include the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and NSF CAREER Award. He has advised numerous Ph.D. students and collaborates with Overland AI on autonomous systems.
