James Hardwick serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law and Veterans Law Staff Attorney at Cornell Law School. He directs the Veterans Law Practicum, a legal clinic serving veterans in central/western New York with benefits appeals, discharge upgrades, and housing issues. The program received a VA grant renewal and increase in 2024 to address veteran homelessness.

Research Focus: Hardwick's work centers on disability rights and economic justice for veterans, particularly those with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma. He addresses systemic barriers caused by "bad paper" discharges and housing insecurity among veterans.
