James F. Klumpp is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland. A renowned rhetorical critic, his work examines discourse for social change, Kenneth Burke's theories, argumentation processes, and American public address including Lincoln and Martin Luther King.
Honored with three lifetime achievement awards including the Douglas W. Ehninger Distinguished Rhetorical Scholar Award (2013), his research appears in the Quarterly Journal of Speech, Argumentation, and Critical Studies in Mass Communication. Former president of the American Forensic Association.
