James E. Amburgey

James E. Amburgey is an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), part of the William States Lee College of Engineering. His research focuses on water treatment processes, environmental monitoring, and pathogen detection. He holds a Ph.D. (2002) and M.S. (2000) from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a B.S.C.E. (1998) from UNCC.

His expertise includes drinking water treatment optimization, UV disinfection, filtration modeling, and industrial water pollution control. Notable research areas include bioterrorism detection methods, recreational water quality, and surfactant treatment technologies.
