James Doyle is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Harvard University, located in Emerson 314. His professional journey includes roles as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol (1998-2011) and a long-term Visitor at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (2011-2015).
Education: BA from Cambridge University, PhD from the University of Virginia.
Research focuses on History of Philosophy (especially Plato), Philosophy of Action, and Philosophy of Mind. Current projects include books on Plato's Gorgias, Augustine's Confessions, and Anscombe's Intention.
Published works include No Morality, No Self (2018), analyzing G.E.M. Anscombe's seminal papers on modern moral philosophy.
