James Cox

James Cox serves as Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems and Security at Our Lady of the Lake University, specializing in Database Design, Programming, Information Systems, Media Naturalness, Compensatory Adaptation, and Data Analysis.

He holds a PhD in International Business Administration with Management Information Systems concentration from Texas A&M International University, complemented by a Master of Science in Information Systems from the same institution. His undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with Finance minor from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico.

Dr. Cox implements a practical, hands-on teaching philosophy using real-world examples to simplify complex concepts, incorporating assignments, projects, homework, and in-class exercises across his courses. His approach focuses on developing students into skilled technology professionals through continuous feedback and curriculum refinement.

A member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Dr. Cox maintains diverse interests including classical and Latin music genres (Rancheras, Corridos, Cumbias, Vallenato), hunting, hiking, gardening, and authentic Mexican cuisine preparation. Fluent in English and Spanish, he was born in northeast Mexico and emphasizes cultural connections through food and language.
