James Clinton Rawls is an Adjunct Instructor and Broadcast Programming Manager at Lamar University. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington (2010) and a B.S. from Lamar University (2006). His teaching focuses on Film Appreciation and American Cinema within the BS in Communication program. Rawls has led a study abroad program on French cinema and humanities (2017), presented at the Pop Culture Association (2014), and secured over $500,000 in film/video equipment for the Department of Communication. He has produced projects like The JASON Project and exhibited films in national galleries and festivals since 2004.
His professional philosophy emphasizes student engagement and the balance between technological innovation and storytelling in filmmaking. He advises students to prioritize curiosity and humility in their educational journeys.
Rawls has contributed extensively to Lamar University’s media infrastructure and creative output, blending academic instruction with practical production experience.
