James Brown is an Associate Professor of Architecture at Umeå School of Architecture, Umeå University. His research focuses on critical pedagogy, design-build practices, and sustainable wood construction. He holds a PhD from Queen's University Belfast and has taught at institutions including the Royal College of Art and De Montfort University.

Research Interests: Brown explores how design education can bridge theory and practice through live projects and wood-based construction.
