James Borg is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Aston University researching evolutionary computation and socio-technical systems. His work investigates how social learning and cultural evolution emerge within artificial systems and can be applied to real-world problems like energy management.
Current projects examine open-ended evolutionary processes in cultural systems and mechanisms for promoting pro-social behaviors in household energy consumption. Research employs agent-based modeling to simulate how social information transfer influences system-level behaviors.
Teaching includes modules on Security Governance (CS326G) and Deep Learning (CS4740). Supervises PhD candidate Nathan Brooks on social behavior in multi-agent energy systems.
