James B. Haile is an Associate Professor of Philosophy with a joint appointment in English at the University of Rhode Island. He teaches courses in Existentialism, Africana philosophy, Black literary theory, and African American fiction. His research bridges philosophy and literature, focusing on themes of theatricality, identity, and speculative imagination in Black male life and literature.
His scholarship explores how Black literary works engage with existential themes and reimagine historical archives through an intersectional lens.
