Jamal Ouenniche is a Professor and Chair in Business Analytics at the University of Edinburgh Business School. He serves as Head of the Management Science and Business Economics group, Director of the MSc in Business Analytics, a Member of the Senate, and a Member of the Business School Executive Board.
- Education: BSc in Mathematics, MSc in Operational Research (University of Montreal), PhD in Operations Management (Laval University).
His research spans descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, addressing managerial challenges in energy, manufacturing, transport, banking, and public sector policy. Methodological contributions include optimization, artificial intelligence, DEA, risk modeling, and forecasting.
Recent research trends focus on bankruptcy prediction (complex networks, feature selection), DEA applications (Islamic banks' productivity), and simulation model reuse in operational contexts.
He acts as a referee for over 25 journals, conferences, and councils like ESRC and SSHRC, and serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications. Collaborations span energy sustainability, financial resilience, and cross-country research councils.
