Jakub Steiner is a Professor of Economics at the University of Zurich's Faculty of Economics, specializing in Game Theory, Behavioral Economics, and Information Economics. He holds a prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant (BEHAVFRICTIONS, 2018–2023) supporting his research on behavioral frictions in economic decision-making.
His work spans theoretical and experimental economics, with recent focus on stochastic growth, bounded rationality, and attention economics. He has advised numerous PhD students, including Maxim Goryunov (EUI Florence), Ludmila Matyskova (University of Alicante), and Kremena Valkanova (ETH Zurich postdoc).
Key contributions include frameworks linking stochastic processes to decision theory, models of risk perception, and analysis of optimal test allocation during pandemics. His research has been published in top journals like Econometrica, Journal of Economic Theory, and American Economic Review: Insights.
Teaching responsibilities include advanced microeconomics seminars and coordination of interdisciplinary research groups. Current projects explore latent representations in economic data and robust decision-making under uncertainty.
