Jakob Boer is a Post-doctoral Researcher in Film Studies at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. His work bridges phenomenology and film reception studies, focusing on slow cinema's experiential effects. He holds an MA in Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Groningen (2015) and has conducted research at institutions including Macquarie University (PhD Candidate, 2021–present). Boer's research investigates spectatorial engagement with temporality, boredom, and complexity in films, employing micro-phenomenological methods. His expertise includes avant-garde film, cognitive approaches to film complexity, and the intersection of psychology with film aesthetics.
