Jake Vander Zanden

Dr. Jake Vander Zanden is Professor of Integrative Biology and Director of the Center for Limnology at UW–Madison. His research investigates aquatic ecosystem dynamics with focus on species invasions, food web interactions, and fisheries sustainability in freshwater systems.

Key research areas include impacts of invasive species on lake ecosystems, cross-habitat resource subsidies, and application of stable isotope techniques to trace energy flow. Current projects examine:

• Trophic cascades following species introductions
• Ecosystem impacts of dreissenid mussels
• Bluegill population dynamics in changing lakescapes
