Jaimie Monk is a Research Fellow at Motu Research, having joined in 2022 after completing her PhD in Public Policy at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington. Her work focuses on socioeconomic policy impacts, particularly through the Public Housing and Urban Regeneration project with the New Zealand Centre for Sustainable Cities.
Research Focus

- Housing policy effects on children
- Behavioural economics applications in public policy
- Technology usage patterns among youth
Recognition
In 2022, she received the Jan Whitwell Prize from the New Zealand Association of Economists for her doctoral research on income impacts on children's behavioral development.
Current Work
She analyzes longitudinal data from the Growing Up in New Zealand study to evaluate public housing influences on child development outcomes. Based in Christchurch, she contributes to urban regeneration research while maintaining community engagement.
