Dr. Jaime Heiniger is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Applied Ecology at the University of New England's School of Environmental and Rural Science. She works with the Practical Ecology, Science and Technology (PEST) research team and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, focusing on developing effective feral cat management strategies in NSW environments. Her research compares experimental management techniques with conventional approaches across four Northern Tablelands sites.
Her research examines:
- Feral cat control efficacy and native species safety
- Conservation outcomes for quolls, bandicoots and possums
- Marsupial and dasyurid ecology and reproduction
- Spatial ecology and population demographics
Prior to UNE, Jaime worked with the Northern Territory Government investigating native mammals and feral cats on Groote Eylandt. She completed her PhD at the University of Queensland on northern quoll ecology.
