Jaime Castillo is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Counselor Education at the State University of New York at Geneseo and serves as Director of Counseling Services there. He specializes in counseling pedagogy, multicultural competence, and experiential learning methodologies. Dr. Castillo holds a PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education (Syracuse University, 2016), an MS in School Counseling (University of Scranton, 2008), and a BS in Psychology (Penn State University, 2006).
His research focuses on cognitive complexity in counseling, accreditation processes, and social justice advocacy in education. He teaches courses such as Group Counseling, Multicultural Counseling, and Clinical Mental Health Management. Dr. Castillo employs a constructivist teaching philosophy grounded in Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory, emphasizing inclusive learning environments that honor diverse student experiences and learning styles.
