Jaideep Taggart Singh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Michigan State University, with a joint appointment at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) and Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). He joined MSU in August 2014 after completing his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Singh's research focuses on applying atomic, molecular, and optical physics techniques to answer fundamental questions in nuclear and particle physics. His passion centers on creating, manipulating, and detecting spin-polarized nuclei. His primary research interests include tests of fundamental symmetries, low energy searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, and studies of rare nuclear reactions.
His group is actively involved in precision measurement experiments, particularly electric dipole moment (EDM) searches in nuclei. Current projects include the search for the permanent EDM of Radium-225, precision noble gas magnetometry using SQUID detection, and measurements of the neutron EDM. His research leverages advanced techniques including ultra-low field NMR, optical pumping, electric field generation, vacuum systems, cryogenics, and laser manipulation of atoms.
