Jae Yong Suk

Jae Yong Suk is Associate Professor in the Department of Design and Faculty Co-Director of the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) at UC Davis. His research examines human factors in lighting design, including glare assessment and visual comfort optimization.

Research focuses on:

• Daylighting performance metrics
• Visual comfort modeling
• Human-centric lighting systems
• Full-spectrum LED applications

Publications span sustainable building design with emphasis on daylight simulation accuracy, glare prediction models, and post-occupancy evaluation of certified buildings. Recent work explores the psychological effects of light spectra.

Significant grants include $200k from Toyota Boshoku America/Seoul Semiconductor for discrete color effects research and $100k from Seoul Semiconductor for full-spectrum LED studies. Teaches Lighting Technology & Design (DES 136A/B) and Daylighting & Interior Design (DES 137A/B).
