Jae Ogilvie is a Teaching Professor and Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies) at the University of New Brunswick's Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management. He holds a BSc (2006) and MSc (2017) in Forestry and Environmental Management from UNB. His academic career combines computer engineering foundations with environmental expertise, focusing on GIS-based landscape modeling and wet areas mapping.
Research interests include LiDAR-based forest modeling, wet area mapping, and GIS applications in environmental management. Notable contributions include Alberta's LiDAR-based WAM datasets and ASTech award nominations. Courses taught include GIS for Forestry, LiDAR applications, and forest inventory.
Jae has received the 2013 Emerald Award (via project funding agency) and contributed to influential studies on boreal ecosystems, permafrost dynamics, and stream network modeling. His work bridges academia and industry, enhancing environmental planning and sustainable forestry practices.
