Jadwiga B. Podowska

Jadwiga B. Podowska is a Lecturer in Visual Arts at the Department of Aesthetic Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Educational Sciences, University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), Notodden Campus. Trained at the Norwegian National Academy of the Arts, her practice combines installations, photography, video art, and interdisciplinary research.

Research Interests:

• Posthumanist critiques of anthropocentrism
• Ecological and cultural intersections
• Visual metaphors in contemporary art
• Art-science collaborations

• 2013: Award for ‘The Science of Confusion’ installation
• 2004: Ingrid Lindbäck Langaard Scholarship
• Multiple Vederlagsfond and Arts Council Norway Scholarships (2002-2004)
• BKH Fine Art Academy Scholarships (2000, 1996)

Projects like The Poetics of Thanatology and The Skeleton Garden explore empathy, death, and non-human agency. She operates the Foyer Gallery at USN and is a member of the Norwegian Association of Researchers and LEAF (Leonardo Education and Arts Forum).
