Jacques ORVAIN

Jacques ORVAIN is a Professor at École des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique (EHESP), affiliated with the Institute of Management (IdM). He holds a Doctor of Medicine, DES in Public Health, DEA in Statistics, and a Doctorate in Management Sciences. His research focuses on organizational behavior in healthcare and medico-social organizations, particularly mechanisms structuring work within these systems.

Dr. ORVAIN’s work integrates comparative and qualitative inductive methods, addressing the interplay between organizational structuring and individual initiative. His recent projects include studies on emergency service organization, health crisis responses, and governance of mother-child centers. He leads the MOS (Healthcare Organisation Management) research team and has contributed to international pharmaceutical trials, protocol design, and statistical reporting.

Past roles include Vice President of medical services at HMR (USA), Director of Evaluation at ANAES (Paris), and Vice Dean at ENSP (Rennes). He also served on the ANAP Scientific Council (2009–2013). His teaching emphasizes Quality Management, Risk Management, and Dashboard-driven strategies in health and medico-social coordination.
