Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systemsمعرفی
Jacqueline Janssen is a Predoc researcher in the "Mesoscopic Physics of Life" group at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPIPKS) in Dresden, Germany, and an IMPRS-CellDevoSys PhD student.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich (2012-2015), with a thesis titled "Construction of the Dirac Vacuum and the problem of the external field in the Quantum Electrodynamics" supervised by Prof. Detlef Dürr.
- Master of Physics from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2015-2018), with a thesis titled "Statistical mechanics of the bacterial chromosome" supervised by Prof. Chase Broedersz.
- PhD studies at MPIPKS since September 2018 as part of the IMPRS-CellDevoSys program.
Her research interests focus on the intersection of physics and biology, including active emulsions in protein gradients, phase transitions and instabilities in biological systems, chromosome organization using maximum entropy models, and stochastic processes such as the totally asymmetric exclusion process. Her work applies statistical mechanics to biological problems, particularly in understanding chromosome dynamics and active matter in biological contexts.
During her academic journey, she completed an internship at the Research Group of Statistical and Biological Physics (2016) where she worked on "Modelling the gliding assay of the directional switching kinesins" under Prof. Erwin Frey.
She is a member of the "Mesoscopic Physics of Life" research group at MPIPKS, which focuses on applying physical principles to understand biological systems at the mesoscale.
