Jacqueline Dougherty is a Lecturer in Foreign Languages (French) at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences, within the Department of French and Francophone Studies. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Her expertise includes contemporary French and Francophone literature, with a focus on interdisciplinary teaching methodologies, text-image dynamics, socio-cultural alienation themes, and autobiographical narrative forms.
Dr. Dougherty co-authored the article “Errance Identitaire de l’entre-deux chez Marguerite Duras et Annie Ernaux” with Martine Antle. She serves as Editorial Assistant for French Forum and coordinates foundational French courses (French 112 & 121). She regularly teaches advanced courses such as French 231 and 232, emphasizing critical engagement with literary and cultural texts. Her pedagogical approach integrates visual and textual analysis, reflecting her research interests.
