Dr Jacqueline Collins is a Lecturer in Spanish and Latin American Studies (SPLAS) at the University of Stirling, where she joined in 2020 after 25 years at Northumbria University. As Programme Director for SPLAS and the BA Hons in European Languages and Society with International Management, she teaches across undergraduate levels, specializing in modules like Queer Latin American Cinema and Crime Fiction, Film and TV in the Spanish-speaking World. She also contributes to postgraduate programs in Creative Writing, Gender Studies, and Strategic Communication & Public Relations.
Her research focuses on Spanish and Latin American cultures, queer popular culture, and international crime fictions. Alongside Dr. Nikolaos Papadogiannis, she co-founded the Queer Studies Reading Group in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Her recent collaborative work with Sarah Gilligan on fashioning Spanish masculinities appears in the Journal of Bodies, Sexualities and Masculinities and Film, Fashion and Consumption. She has guest-edited a special issue of the Journal of European Popular Culture from the EUPOP2023 conference.
