Prof. Jacqueline Broerse is a Full Professor in Innovation and Communication in Health & Life Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, leading the Athena Institute for transdisciplinary research. Her work focuses on food system transformations, emphasizing equity and sustainability through multi-stakeholder engagement. She coordinates major EU projects like FIT4FOOD2030 (2017-2020) and FoodCLIC (2022-2027), and chairs CLEVERFOOD (2023-2027). She advises the EU High-Level Expert Group on Food Systems Science and serves on boards of Amsterdam Academic Workplace Food and Amsterdam Public Health. Broerse holds a PhD (1998) and master's (1988) in Biomedical Sciences, and previously worked in policy roles at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
