Jacob Klein is the Herman Mark Professor of Polymer Physics at the Weizmann Institute of Science since 1986. He previously held roles including Dr. Lee’s Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford (2000-2007) and Visiting Scholar at Tsinghua University. His research spans soft matter, surface forces, polymer physics, and biological lubrication.
- Education: BA in Physics (University of Cambridge, 1977), MA and PhD in Physics (Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, 1977), postdoc at the Weizmann Institute.
His research focuses on the physical chemistry of polymers, surface and interfacial forces, and biological lubrication, extending to nanotribology and tissue engineering. He has pioneered studies on polymer dynamics, confined fluids, and macromolecular systems, contributing foundational algorithms for molecular dynamics simulations.
