Dr. Jacob J. Capin is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Marquette University and Director of the Life After Sport Trajectories (LAST) Laboratory. His research focuses on improving health outcomes for former athletes through non-surgical, non-pharmacologic interventions like exercise and behavioral change.

Dr. Capin’s research examines musculoskeletal function, cardiometabolic health, and chronic disease prevention in former athletes. His work includes NIH-funded studies on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury outcomes and contralateral knee osteoarthritis after total knee arthroplasty.
Scientific awards include the NIH Director’s Early Independence Award, Advanced Geriatrics Fellowship, and Foundation for Physical Therapy Research scholarships. He also teaches Kinesiology I (PHTH 7525) and volunteers as a USA Triathlon Certified Coach.
