Jaclyn Coyle

Jaclyn Coyle is a Research Scientist IV at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where she has worked since 2024. Previously, she served as a Research Scientist III at NREL (2020–2024), a Postdoctoral Researcher at NREL (2018–2020), a Graduate Intern at Sandia National Laboratories (2015–2018), and a Graduate Researcher at the University of Colorado Boulder (2013–2018). Her career focuses on the development and characterization of advanced lithium-ion battery materials and scalable recycling techniques.

Research Interests: Jaclyn’s work centers on next-generation lithium-ion battery materials, including silicon anodes for improved energy density and mechanical characterization of composite electrodes. She is a leading contributor to direct recycling methods for end-of-life electric vehicle batteries, particularly through the ReCell Consortium, and investigates hydrometallurgical recycling and the impact of contaminants on battery performance. Her expertise spans process intensification and materials optimization for sustainable battery systems.
