Jaclyn Amoroso serves as Assistant Director and Senior Lecturer in the Writing & Critical Inquiry Program at the University at Albany, State University of New York, where she has held a full-time position since 2013.
Her academic background includes a Master of Arts in English from The College of Saint Rose, where she previously directed the Writing Center for several years. This foundational experience informs her pedagogical approach to undergraduate writing instruction.
Research interests center on first-year writing pedagogy, the American Dream in literary contexts, American identity construction through literature, and multicultural literature's role in secondary English education. She integrates Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's 'The Danger of a Single Story' framework to examine how narratives shape societal understanding and personal identity.
Amoroso co-directs the WCI Peer Mentor Program, training former students to develop leadership skills while guiding first-year students through academic writing, research, and critical inquiry expectations. Her teaching emphasizes sustained reflection on personal experiences and societal questions through structured writing exercises.
Based in the University Library Basement (LI B96G), she operates within the program's administrative structure with pronouns she/her/hers, focusing exclusively on undergraduate curriculum development and mentorship without mention of research grants or scientific awards.
