Dr. Dumas’s research focuses on the intersection of classical antiquity and modern literature, particularly the implications of hubris, metaphysical detective fiction, and satire. His work in cultural materialism examines how historical contexts shape literary production, while his comparative classicist approach traces Greek and Roman influences in contemporary texts. Recent publications like Marx Side of the Moon (2024) demonstrate his interdisciplinary synthesis of Marxist theory and literary analysis.
Over his career, Dr. Dumas’s publications span journals such as The McNeese Review, The Southern Literary Journal, and Intertexts, reflecting consistent engagement with satire, classical reception, and Southern literary traditions. His 2024 article Marx Side of the Moon highlights a shift toward political economy critiques, while his 2019 work on Poe’s Annabel Lee underscores his technical expertise in poetic form.
