معرفی
Jack Vossen is a Researcher at the Plant Breeding department of Wageningen University & Research, focusing on potato disease resistance and genomic solutions for agricultural challenges. He actively contributes to projects like LWV24045 (molecular virulence monitoring of Phytophthora infestans) and LWV22245 (Fusarium control via host-encoded resistance), with collaborations across institutions including University of East Anglia and Michigan State University.
Research interests include:
- Genetic engineering of disease-resistant potatoes using base editing and cisgenic methods
- Characterizing susceptibility genes like PMR4 and resistance genes like R8 and Sen3
- Effectoromics for pathogen-targeted breeding
- Monitoring pathogen adaptation through genomic and virulence studies
His recent work highlights:
- Transgene-free late blight resistance via base editing
- Identification of haplotype-specific SNPs for potato wart resistance
- Screening wild potato genotypes for novel resistance sources
- Phased genome assemblies of tetraploid potato for genetic diversity insights
Jack Vossen serves as a co-promotor for PhD projects on bacterial wilt resistance and rhizosphere microbiome applications, while leading LVVN projects on Fusarium and Phytophthora management. His expertise bridges plant genetics, pathogenomics, and sustainable agricultural practices.
