Jack Umenberger is a Lecturer at the University of Oxford since January 2023, affiliated with the Control Group within the Department of Engineering Science. His research focuses on applying control theory, optimization, and machine learning to energy systems, with expertise in data-driven modeling of stable dynamical systems.
Previous academic positions include postdoctoral roles at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Russ Tedrake's Robot Locomotion Group and at Uppsala University in Thomas Schön's statistical machine learning group.
