Jack Mc Martin serves as Assistant Professor of Translation Studies and English at KU Leuven, affiliated with the Centre for Translation Studies and Translation Studies Research Unit. His work examines the global circulation of Dutch literature through translation, emphasizing institutional frameworks and spatial dynamics within international publishing ecosystems.
Research spans Dutch literary translation reception, children's literature adaptation across cultures, and historical analysis of translation networks. His investigations reveal how publishers, translators, and cultural mediators shape transnational literary flows, with particular attention to market forces and intercultural exchange mechanisms.
Mc Martin's scholarly output centers on translation theory applications in real-world publishing contexts, notably through his 2020 co-edited volume on children's literature translation which established new methodological frameworks for analyzing cross-cultural textual adaptation. This work demonstrates consistent engagement with both theoretical discourse and practical industry challenges.
He actively contributes to the Translation and Intercultural Transfer research group within KU Leuven's Centre for Translation Studies, collaborating on projects examining translation's role in global knowledge transfer and cultural diplomacy initiatives.
