Dr. Jack Hobbs commenced his academic career at the University of New England (UNE) in 1965 as a Teaching Fellow in Geography. He advanced to roles such as Head of Department, Associate Professor, and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts, retiring from full-time academia around 2000. His enduring affiliation with Earle Page College (EPC) began in 1965 when he served as Resident Tutor until 1969, later contributing as SCR President (2001–2003, 2011–2019), Assistant Master (2004–2009), and Head of Mary White College and Robb College. His academic journey includes a Master of Science (1969) and PhD (1973).
Jack’s research interests align with his disciplinary background in Geography and broader contributions to regional development and higher education administration. His career reflects a blend of academic leadership and residential college governance, with a legacy of service at EPC spanning over five decades. He remains a revered figure, advocating passionately for student life and institutional heritage.
