Boulton’s methodological interests include experimental ethnographic writing and the intersection of architecture with social identity. His projects often address post-apartheid transitions, colonial heritage, and the materiality of urban landscapes. Grants include the DFG Walter Benjamin Fellowship (2022–present), supporting his current work on masculinities and architecture in Namibian cities.
