Jacek Dominiczak is a Professor of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland, where he has been employed since 1998 and leads the Urban Interior Design Studio since 2010. He holds a Doctorate from Gdańsk University of Technology (1989) and Habilitation from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (2005). His academic career includes visiting professorships at Carnegie Mellon University (USA, 1991 and 1993–1997), University of Michigan (USA, 1992), ITESM (Mexico, 1998), and UBI (Portugal, 2006–2010). He has also lectured at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (2010–2011) and the University of Warsaw (1999–2000).
His research focuses on Dialogical Architecture and urban space theory, emphasizing Local Identity Codes. Notable projects include the interior design of ŁAŹNIA 2 Center for Artistic Education (Gdańsk, 2012) and the Delay(er)ing Facade installation at the 9th Venice Architecture Biennale (2004). He has led international Local Identity Code development projects in Australia (2009), the USA (1995), and Poland (1990–2006).
Awardees of the Fulbright Program and Kościuszko Foundation, Dominiczak’s work bridges architectural experimentation with cultural dialogue. His academic courses prioritize the dialogic advancement of urban spaces, reflecting his theoretical and practical contributions to architecture.
