Jacek Adamczyk is a Lecturer at the Department of Forest Sciences, which is part of the Branch of the University of Lodz in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. He teaches Dendrology, forest botany (including plant anatomy), seminars, and discussion classes, with specialization courses covering native and alien woody plant species in the Polish landscape, dendrological collections in Poland, and mechanisms regulating plant morphogenesis.
His research focuses on plant morphogenesis regulation mechanisms, particularly growth correlations in tree crowns, phytohormones' role in growth and development processes, xylogenesis of trees, ash trunk vascular system changes related to dieback, phenology and ecology of selected woody plants, and botanical gardens' role in ex situ conservation of endangered plants. He has also been extensively involved in nature photography, creating images used in teaching materials and botanical publications, including his monograph 'Atlas pędów zimowych' (Atlas of Winter Shoots).
His publication record spans over three decades (1987-2017), with a consistent focus on plant physiology, particularly auxin transport mechanisms in trees. His later work increasingly addresses ash dieback disease, reflecting emerging forest pathology challenges. His research combines laboratory-based physiological studies with field observations of tree species in natural and managed environments.
- Minister's award for works 1-3 (1987-1991)
Dr. Adamczyk maintains regular duty hours on Thursdays (08:30-09:30) and Saturdays (10:30-11:30), and is actively engaged in both teaching and research activities at the university. His work bridges fundamental plant physiology with practical forestry applications, particularly in addressing contemporary challenges like ash dieback.
