معرفی
Jacek Adam Tuszynski is a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) at Polytechnic of Turin, Italy. He also holds positions as Full Professor in the Department of Physics at University of Alberta, and Adjunct Professor roles in Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Biomedical Engineering, and Oncology at the same institution. He is a member of the Interdepartmental Center PolitoBIOMed Lab - Biomedical Engineering Lab.
Professor Tuszynski earned his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics from the University of Calgary in 1983. His academic career began at Memorial University of Newfoundland (1983-1988), followed by positions at the University of Alberta where he progressed from assistant professor (1988) to associate (1990) and full professor (1993). From 2005-2020, he held the prestigious Allard Chair in Experimental Oncology at the Cross Cancer Institute.
His research interests focus on computational biophysics, with particular emphasis on in silico drug design for cancer chemotherapy applications. His work spans bioelectricity, microtubules, motor proteins, pharmacokinetics, and rational drug design. His computational biophysics group specializes in developing computational models for drug discovery and testing.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals strong trends in molecular modeling for cancer therapeutics, with significant work on microtubule mechanics, drug nanoencapsulation, and computational approaches to understanding molecular interactions in biological systems. His research bridges physics, engineering, and medical applications with a clear focus on translational outcomes.
Professor Tuszynski's scientific recognition includes:
- Allard Chair in Experimental Oncology
- Fellow of the National Institute for Nanotechnology of Canada
He has successfully mentored numerous graduate students and secured over 100 research grants from Canadian, US, and European funding agencies. His research group leads interdisciplinary work in computational drug discovery. He is also involved in the LANGMOL project (2025-2027) focused on molecular language modeling for chemical design.
